I support the belief that pregnancy and birth are natural and normal
life events that should be enjoyed and celebrated, not feared. I am
a proud mother of seven children, and have been involved with
midwifery and the birthing community since the homebirth of my
fourth child in 1990. I originally trained first as a Birth and
Postpartum Doula, and then started my training in midwifery. Since
completing my training and becoming a licensed midwife, I have been
offering complete midwifery services to women and their families in
Arizona. Other services I offer to expecting mom's, include
pregnancy and birth photography, belly casting, childbirth
education, and labor support.

Pamela wanted to help women achieve the births that they desired. She
began teaching childbirth classes and attending births. In 1994, Pamela
became a La Leche League Leader to help nursing mother's breastfeed
successfully. And then in 1996 she began her apprenticeship as a student
midwife and also worked as a Doula/Labor assistant. In April of 1999 she
became licensed by the State of Arizona as a midwife.

I have five children, four of which I gave birth to, ranging in age from
19 to 29 and I have 8 grandchildren. Like many midwives, I became
interested in women's healthcare issues. and especially childbirth, during
my own pregnancies and childbirth experiences. I attended the Arizona
School of Midwifery from 1978-1980 and apprenticed under two licensed
midwives. I became licensed in 1982. Since then, I have attended
approximately 1500 births in the Prescott area. My services include
preconception, prenatal, homebirth, waterbirth, postpartum, and newborn
care as well as labor support throughout all of Yavapai County.

Sierra Helton, LM, CPM
I currently practice in Northern Arizona, primarily in the Flagstaff area, with two wonderful midwives. I was licensed in 2004 and shortly after, received my national certification from the North American Registry of Midwives. I began studying midwifery after the birth of my nephew in 1997. After graduating from Northern Arizona University with a BS in Chemistry in 2000, I began my apprenticeship with midwives in Prescott. During that time period, I taught Chemistry at Yavapai College. I moved back to Flagstaff in 2003 to complete my studies at Womancare Midwifery Center. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve families in such an intimate and beautiful process. When I am not catching babies, I enjoy vacations and great Arizona hiking. I am married and awaiting the moment when a little one will be brought into my life—at home.

 Robin Sharples-Ray, LM, CPM
AZ Womb Service, LLC
Office: 623-533-5160
Cell: 623-205-3212
birthaide@cox.net
Robin Sharples-Ray became a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife in 2005 after
completing a 5 year apprenticeship. Robin has worked in the birthing community since 1990, and
is also a certified birth doula (DONA, 1996) and certified childbirth educator (ICEA, 1996).
Robin's valley wide midwifery practice, AZ Womb Service, provides personal and individualized
services with all prenatal visits taking place in the comfort of your own home. Midwifery
services include prenatal care, homebirth, waterbirth, postpartum and newborn care. Many
insurance companies provide coverage for these services.
Robin was brought up to believe that birth is a wonderfully normal process of life. This view
has been enhanced and empowered through the birth of her seven children, of which the last two
were midwifery assisted homebirths. She continues to see the power of this process in the many
women she serves during their pregnancies, labors and births.
Her approach to midwifery starts with the belief that women intuitively know what is best for
them and their babies. She builds on those instincts through educating, empowering and
nurturing the mothering spirit. Knowledge through education enables the family to make wise
choices regarding their care which empowers them to have a more enjoyable pregnancy and birth
experience. Confidence in parenting is also enhanced through nurturing the mothering spirit
during prenatal as well as postpartum visits. Robin sees pregnancy and birth experience as a
journey of trusting, learning and nurturing the mothering spirit.
